Shōrin-in (勝林院)

Shōrin-in (勝林院)

Shourin-in is a temple located in the Ohara valley in the north of Kyoto city. The temple, founded in 1013, doesn't have extraordinary features and for this reason is only a thing to see if you have time. Which, given the better alternatives nearby is unlikely :) The main hall does have interesting wood carvings under its roof though, but IMHO it's not enough to justify an entrance fee. Of course your interests may differ, and you may want a more down-to-earth and simple temple to relax in between visits to more crowded neighbours.
