Shozen-ji is one of the least known temples to enjoy rhododendrons (tsutsuji - ツツジ). Only careful examination of Kyoto using Google Earth revealed a temple with an interesting garden. But even with a name and a location details were practically absent on the internet. Shozen-ji is not located near other interesting places and its entrance is not the easiest to find, both contributing to its secrecy. It's a pity because Shozen-ji is a nice local temple and its tsutsuji bushes are very nice in early June.
You can reach Shosen-ji by walking from Genko-an down to Daitoku-ji.
