Otokuni-dera (乙訓寺)

Otokuni-dera (乙訓寺)

Otokuni-dera is a temple well known for its flower garden which has more than 2000 peonies (not ponies!) Unfortunately I visited at the wrong time so there's not much to see here. The recommended season is April-May. In fact the temple has its annual festival every year at that time.

It is an old temple, with its history going back to the early 9th century. But as usual little remain of the original structures, and apart from the flowers and festival there may be little to see.
