Hewlett-Packard HP-E36430A power supply onboarding
The HP-E3630A 6V/2.5A +/-25V/0.5A triple power supply Why a non computer controlled PSU that costs more than those GPIB-controllable goodies of the E364x series? Because it is super fast to use! No need to access complicated settings through '90s non-ergonomic UIs, everything is right there! And by everything I just mean three knobs: 6V rail voltage, 25V rail voltage and 25V tracking offset. I have to say immediately that the tracking offset is a little hard to lock in its full clockwise position but hey, not a big deal. These are cheapo PSUs made for student labs (or maybe some cash strapped, small R&D benches) This example is in almost mint condition and works just fine but we're going in anyway just in case there's a RIFA cap ready to explode... Inside the HP-E3630A Well what can I say, nothing to see here, move along... The innards are very clean (pristine?) and there's nothing much to add. Of course there's a RIFA cap but it seems just fine, for now at least. And since there is no fan in these power supplies there is really nothing much that can go wrong. That's all folks! There had to be a RIFA cap... Now in its natural environment.
