Chion-ji (知恩寺)

Chion-ji (知恩寺)

Not to be confused with Chion-in, Chion-ji is a temple complex located just north of the Kyoto University's main campus. Several sub-temples surround its main yard, but none of them is open to the public. Chion-ji appears to have an interesting karesansui (dry landscape) garden in front of its Hojo (head priest quarters). The garden is apparently open to the public on special days (特別拝観).
