Myōhō-in (妙法院)

Myōhō-in (妙法院)

Myoho-in (妙法院) being only exceptionally open to the public, it is a hard place to visit. The temple history starts in 1158, and is full of connections with emperors and the aristocracy. The temple has numerous treasures, notably painted sliding doors (襖 - fusuma). Its gardens also seem to be beautiful, but I have yet to get to see them.

If you stroll around Chishaku-in (智積院) and Sanjusangen-do (三十三間堂), Myouhou-in (妙法院) is just nearby and worth a little detour, just in case it would be open to visitors... The large kitchen hall and its massive wooden superstructure can be seen all the time.
