Daichū-in (大中院)

Daichū-in (大中院)

Daichu-in is not a temple that can be visited, and I have not seen any special openings in the last few years (I suspect there has never been any). However, it is located right next to the eastern entrance of Kennin-ji, at the limit of the popular Gion entertainment district so it's worth just stopping by to look at the front yard. The place used to look completely run down but the front gate has been completely renovated in 2012-2013 and it now appears much more inviting.
