Hakkaku-dō (八角堂)

Hakkaku-dō (八角堂)

Hakkaku-do means "octagonal hall" and indeed that is the shape of this small temple. This name is probably not unique, and there are a few "hexagonal" temples too (Rokkaku-do). The hall is likely mainly used by the locals and is not exactly a tourist spot. In fact, if you do walk the mile down from Iwashimizu shrine to see it, well, it probably means it's time for you to find another city to explore :)
