Sitting on its control hydraulics the beasts weights 660 tons. Contrary to popular belief, the tuned mass damper does not help during earthquakes. On the contrary, specific hydraulics (the horizontal ones) are placed at the bottom and amortize the TMD motion in case of earthquake.
