Large aquatic insect (NAIST 奈良先端科学技術大学院大学, Japan)
This is a weird encounter. I found this large insect (full length 18cm) in a field drain. I was obviously dying from the lack of water (the rice fields had just been drained). You can see that its front legs are used for grabbing (large hooks). Some wings are also visible near the end of its body. These are small but can probably be used to colonize other ponds.
