MemoMulot: The MemoMouse(tm) final Mutation

Vincent Daanen and myself have nearly finished the schematic and PCB for the MemoMulot! The software for the chip should be ready soon. A sneak peak? Features of the MemomMulot currently include:

  • PCB size: 15 cm2!!
  • Extra small power requirements: should run for at least 1 year on 2 AA cells
  • Enough room for 64 logbooks. 256 logbooks version available too.
  • Manages the logbooks of up to 16 divers without mixing them up
  • Wake-up function for the Aladin when it's stuck
  • Small price: should be under 50 euros, or $45
  • Full 3.3V-logic compatible (for PDAs, ...)
  • Error detection during transmission
  • Low-bat indicator
  • 7-segments display for buddy select, status, modes, ...
  • Programming of the Aladin using a PC or PDA
Future features planned:
  • 100% MemoMouse emulation (can be used with DataTrak for Window$)
  • IrDA interface: let's go wireless!!!

NEW!! Schematic Download!!

Those who want to 'see how it works' can download the schematic. All comments are welcome. I do not post the PCB yet 'cause I know some of you will try to make prototypes before before I do. This would result in health and pshycho hazards and possibly a law suit so I hope you understand me ;-) The schematic is made under Eagle 4.0, that you can freely download at Cadsoft website.

Here's the latest PCB (version 5.13) at the scale of 2/1:

... and here's a view of the first prototype (note that this PCB has several manufacturing bugs...)
