Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What computers work with these interface?

All computers from Uwatec that can handle profile download (that is, all second generation Aladin computers).

Q: What can I do with an interface?

Transfer you dive profiles and data (like time and date). If the interface is bidirectional, you can also adjust some parameters of the computer, like alarms, PPO2max (Nitrox computers only) and metric/imperial scales.

Q: Are the interfaces working with the Datatrak Windows version?

There is currently no interface that I know that can be used with the Datatrak for Windows. You have to make the transfer with the DOS version; it is the possible to edit your logbook with the Windows version.

Q: I have an AIR intergrated computer: how can I change the parameters like "low-air alarm" with the DOS version?

I don't know (OK, that's not an answer ;-) ). The DOS version of Datatrak can't do that, so it's not possible with this program. However, several other tools for download exist (see the links page): maybe one of these can do it.

Q: What is the cheapest interface?

The uni-directional you can find here. It might not work with some portable equipment, though.

Q: What is your recommended interface?

It depends if you want only your dive profiles or if you want to change the parameters of the computer. In the first case, a unidirectional design is perfect. I suggest you try this one first if you're not used to electronic stuff. If you're a pro already, you will prefer the true-RS232 design.

If you want to change the ppO2, metric/imperial systems,... you will need the bidirectional design. I strongly recommend my design, as the other one is an ill-conditionned design.

Q: Do you provide PCB's?

Soon the PCB for the bidirectional true-RS232 version will be posted.

Q: Do you sell the complete interface/MemoMulot?

No, I don't have the time to build the whole stuff. If you want 30+ units build, maybe.

Q: How much would it cost?

No precise idea here, but it should be around $30/interface. Not a very good deal: better solder it yourself! :-)

Q: Do you have the schematic of the MemoMouse?

No, but we are working on a clone: the MemoMulot.

Q: Is there a place where I can find a DIY MemoMouse?

Have a look at the MemoMulot section! :-))

Q: Are these interfaces compatible with Suunto/Mares/... computers?

This should be checked. As several computers share the same data protocol, it is not impossible.
